Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is a clinically proven program for preventing relapse into depression and reducing stress and anxiety. It combines the practice of mindfulness meditation with the tools of cognitive therapy. Mindfulness is a non-judgmental way of paying attention in the present moment. It enables us to increase our understanding of our habitual reactions to challenging situations and creates the possibility of choosing to respond in more effective ways. Cognitive therapy is designed to interrupt the habitual negative thinking that leads to depressive and anxious spirals.
This group will focus in particular on the stresses of being in the naturopathic training program. The emphasis will be on learning Mindfulness and Cognitive strategies for personal use. Beginning to develop one's own personal practice and understanding is the first step in learning to apply these approaches in clinic.
The group will be open to any CCNM students from any year. The group will run for 8 sessions plus an orientation and intake session from May 14th until July 9th from 430pm to 630pm in classroom 3 at CCNM.
